This week, several members of the HyDRA consortium gathered in Bergen, Norway, in connection with the 5th International Summer School on Underground Hydrogen Storage (UHS).
As the HyDRA project reaches the midpoint of its duration, Dr. Petra Bombach of Isodetect GmbH, lead of Work Package 4: Sample Collection and Characterisation, presented an overview of the project’s progress and key results achieved to date. Dr. Na Liu from the University of Bergen also shared findings from Work Package 8: Bio-Geochemical Reactions on Porous Rock Properties During UHS in a poster presentation.

Among those attending the event were Prof. Katriona Edlmann from the University of Edinburgh, lead of Work Package 6: Geochemical Reactions in Porous Media, who gave a lecture at the summer school, as well as representatives from several of HyDRA’s collaborating storage site operators, including Equinor, RAG Austria AG, and Uniper.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for visitors to meet with HyDRA researchers at the University of Bergen. Guests received guided tours of the laboratories, exchanged knowledge, and discussed future developments, project progression and strategies, and opportunities for collaboration.

By connecting together researchers and industry partners from across Europe, the HyDRA project continues to foster international collaboration and facilitate valuable discussions. We are grateful for the opportunity to share knowledge and advance the development of underground hydrogen storage together.
